<![CDATA[Installing Microsoft SQL Server 2022]]> Before installing Microsoft SQL 2022, review the following:

Ensure your server is meeting the minimum Juris^® System Requirements and Microsoft SQL Server Requirements.
Installing SQL on a Domain Controller is not recommended. See Installing SQL on a Domain Controller for additional details .
Review Step 17 -Configuring database drive locations before beginning the installation process.
For additional install options, review the Microsoft SQL Server Installation Guide.

Take the following steps to install Microsoft SQL Server 2022:

Log into your server with an administrator account.
Download the SQL 2022 Installation Media or insert a media disk.
Browse to the download location and double-click Setup.exe to begin the installation.
Select Custom for Installation Type.
Choose a Media Location and click Install to begin downloading the installation files..
Click Installation located on the left side.
Click New SQL Server stand-alone installation or add features to an existing installation to open the SQL Server 2022 window.
Click Next if prompted to download Product Updates.
Enter a Product Key or select a free edition, then click Next.
Click I accept the license terms, then Next.
Click Next on the Install Rules window.
Note: It's normal to see a warning for Windows Firewall. Adding Firewall Exceptions is recommended after setting up SQL.
If you purchased Azure Extension for SQL, enter your account details, otherwise uncheck the box and click Next.
Check the Database Engine Services box on the Feature Selection window, then click Next.
- Juris only requires installing Database Engine Services. Client Connectivity is automatically installed on SQL 2022.
- SQL Server Replication is not compatible with Juris. All other SQL features are optional based on firm needs.
- Specify Instance Root and Shared Feature directories, or accept the default locations.
Enter a desired name (such as Juris) for the Named Instance and Instance ID then click Next to open Server Configuration.
Ensure Startup Types for SQL Server Database Engine and SQL Server Browser are set to Automatic, then click Next to open Database Engine Configuration.
On the Server Configuration tab:
1. Select Mixed Mode (SQL Server authentication and Windows Authentication) for Authentication Type.
2. Enter and confirm the desired password for the built-in (sa) administrator account.
3. Click Add Current User under Specify SQL Server Administrators. Click Add if you want to add additional users.
Placing TempDB, User Database, and User Database Log files, each on separate local hard drives can vastly improve overall SQL performance. The steps below are only optional and not required for hosting Juris databases on Microsoft SQL. Please consult with a DBA if you are unsure or have any questions.
- TempDB tab - Specify a separate local hard drive for storing TempDB files. External and network drives are not recommended. Solid State (SSD) drives are ideal due to faster transfer rates.
- Data Directories tab - Specify separate local hard drives for storing User Database and User Database Log files. External and network drives are not supported.
- MaxDOP, Memory, & FileStream tabs - Review the SQL Server Installation Guide for optional settings.
Click Next when you a finished making Database Engine Configuration choices.
Click Next on the Ready to Install window.
Click Close on the Complete window.

Note: Before installing Juris on your new SQL Server instance, it is necessary to install SQL Server Management Studio and Configure SQL Server Settings. ]]>
