When you are creating your search on Nexis Newsdesk®, you can specify a content type you want to include in your results:

  1. Click on the All content types down arrow
  2. You can rest your pointer on a content type to view a description
  3. Checkmark the content type(s) to search

After completing a search, you can also restrict your content types under the Content Type filter in the Refine panel.

There are 10 possible content type categories. The content type categories available to you depend on your subscription.

  • Online News - Online web versions of global, national and local news sources business publications and press releases. These may be harvested directly from the publishers website, provided by LexisNexis as Licensed Content, or provided by 3rd party publishers such as NLA (Newspaper Licensing Agency) and CLA (Copyright Licensing Agency).
    • Top international sources - includes the New York Times, CNN, BBC, The Guardian, Financial Times, Le Figaro, Le Monde, Sydney Morning Herald, Die Zeit, Reuters, South China Morning Post, etc.
    • Business, trade and industry sources - includes The Economist, Business Week, MIT Technology Review, Barron's, MarketWatch, McKinsey Quarterly, Accountancy Age, Jane's Defense Weekly, PharmaBiz, etc.
    • Press wires and corporate press pages - includes PR Newswire, PR Web, Business Wire, Nokia press pages, Pfizer press pages, BP press pages, etc.
    • Local and regional sources - includes Kansas City Star, Modesto Bee, This is Bristol, Falkirk Today, Buenos Aires Herald, Brisbane Quest News, etc.
    • Government, political, and organizations news - includes World Bank, 10 Downing Street, United State Department of Justice, Bahrain Freedom Movement, UNICEF, Council of Canadians, etc.
    • Medical and science publications and journals - includes British Medical Journal, American Scientist, Journal of Literacy, Wharton, Voila.fr, etc.
    • Consumer magazines and sports sources - includes Elle, ESPN, Variety, Wired Magazine, SI.com, The Union, Rolling Stone, etc.
  • Print – Print versions of global, national, and local news sources, business publications, press releases. These may be provided by LexisNexis as Licensed Content, or provided by 3rd party publishers such as NLA (Newspaper Licensing Agency) and CLA (Copyright Licensing Agency).
  • Twitter - requires a Premium Social Media add-on subscription and results are limited to the Twitter feeds you request.
  • Blogs - Professional and amateur blogs, including The Huffington Post, TechCrunch, TreeHugger, Gawker, and blogs from Wordpress, Blogger, TypePad, LiveJournal, etc.
  • Comments - Comments captures commentary from everyday users who are contributing to the discussion on News articles, Blogs, and other articles on the web.
  • Forums - includes popular forums and message boards, Q&A sites, Wikis, Classifieds, and Reviews like MoneSavingExpert.com, Offtopic.com, MacRumors, AVForums, DigitalSpy.co.uk, Overclock.net, AboveTopSecret.com, BBC News forums, Lonely Planet forums, Wikipedia, Wikia network, MediaWiki, WikiBooks, and WikiLeaks.

  • Photos/Videos - Photo and video sharing sites like Flickr, Smugmug, Twitpic, Picasa, Photobucket, NPR, BBC podcasts, The Onion podcasts, Channel 4 podcasts, Engadget podcasts, YouTube, Vimeo, blip.tv, Gawkk, ffwd, Veoh, and MSN video.
  • TV/Radio - includes clips and transcripts of radio and television broadcasts.
  • Caselaw - provides access to LN Caselaw. Only available to Large Law customers and requires an add-on subscription.
