You can retrieve a Shepard's® Citation Service report in several different ways as described below. For information about what is contained in a Shepard's report, see Shepard's Citation Service .

If you know the citation of the document you want to Shepardize®, use the Search box to retrieve the Shepard's report.

Enter shep: followed by the citation and click Search. For example, enter shep: 259 f3d 25 and click Search.

If you already ran a search and are currently looking at results, use the Shepard’s Signal™ to retrieve the Shepard's report.

Click the Shepard's Signal Indicator to the left of the document title to retrieve the Shepard's report. For more information about the Shepard's Signals, see Shepard's Signals and Analysis .
Note: This option is not available if there is no Shepard's signal.

If you are viewing a full-text document, there are 2 different ways to retrieve the Shepard's report:

  • Click Shepardize® document or any of the analysis links under About > Shepard's® on the right side of the page
  • Click the Shepard's Signal next to the document title
    Note: This option is not available if there is no Shepard's signal.
Note: Some statute sources include Shepard's Signals on each subsection of a full-text statute. For more information, see Shepard's Reports for Statutes, Regulations, Court Rules, and Constitutions .
