Context

Consider using the Context service. The Context service is an analytical tool that searches content from the Lexis® to provide an in-depth look at experts through interactive charts and graphs.
Context for Expert Witnesses analyzes depositions, trial transcripts, and jury verdicts and settlements from Federal district courts and state trial courts. You can view where the experts have testified, when they have been challenged and specific reasons why judges excluded or admitted their testimony. For more information, see Using Expert Profiles in Context for Expert Witnesses.

Note: If Context is part of your LexisNexis subscription, you see Context in the product selector at the upper left corner of the Lexis® or Lexis+® service. If you are not a current Context subscriber, contact your LexisNexis® Account Representative for more information.

Strategies for Common Names

If the expert's name is common, locate a document that involves the expert you are interested in, open it and click the expert's name under Related Expert Materials link in the About this Document box. When you click the link, the service retrieves all Expert Witness Analysis and Jury Verdicts and Settlements related to this expert in one list. This is especially useful if your expert has a name that retrieves multiple individuals when you run the search above.

Another way to search for experts with common names is to add more information that relates to the individual you are searching for. Follow these patterns depending on the information you have and the results of the initial search:

If your initial search retrieves litigants, attorneys, and other non-experts:

Search: terry /3 martinez /15 expert or witness or testi!

If you know what area the expert practices:

Search: terry /3 martinez /15 toxicolog! or pharmacolog!

If you know degrees or other certifications:

Search: terry /3 martinez /3 dr or doctor or md or m.d. or phd or ph.d
