Use the guidance below to install Lexis® for Microsoft® Office.

Install for Office Desktop for Windows® 
Install for Office 365
Install for Word Mac®
 

 Install for Office Desktop for Windows


Use this version when you are using a locally installed version of Microsoft Office® on Windows.

Take the following steps to install Lexis® for Microsoft® Office for Office Desktop for Windows:

  1. Close Microsoft® Word and Microsoft Outlook if either is open.
  2. Right-click the LMO installer and click Run as Administrator.
  3. Select I Accept the terms of the License Agreement.
  4. Click Next.
  5. Select Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Word, or both to select the applications to which Lexis for Microsoft Office will be installed.
  6. Click Next.
  7. Select Install PDF conversion utility to add the feature to convert PDFs to Microsoft Word format.
  8. Click Next.
  9. Select Install LexisNexis Update Manager to install the update manager to get notifications when a new version of Lexis for Microsoft Office is available.
  10. Click Next.
  11. When the installation completes, click Finish.

Open Microsoft Word and click the LexisNexis® ribbon. Click Options then enter your ID and password under Sign-in Settings. Your Lexis for Microsoft Office ID and password is the same as your Lexis® or Lexis+® ID and password.
Note: If you have never signed in to Lexis or Lexis+ with that ID and you have a temporary password, go to Lexis (https://advance.lexis.com) or Lexis+ (https://plus.lexis.com) to complete the first time sign in password strengthening.

 Install for Office 365


Use this version when you are using Microsoft Office® in the Cloud. Take the following steps to install Lexis for Microsoft Office for Office 365:
  1. Open Microsoft Word.
  2. Click Insert.
  3. Click Get Add-ins.
  4. Click Store.
  5. Enter Lexis® for Microsoft® Office in the Search box and press enter or click Search.
  6. Click Add.
Lexis® for Microsoft® Office appears on the Home ribbon.

 Install for Word for Mac


Use this version when you are using a Mac with a locally installed version of Microsoft Word.

After you have downloaded and installed Microsoft Word on your Mac, take the following steps to install Lexis for Microsoft Office for Mac:
  1. Open Microsoft Word.
  2. Click Insert.
  3. Click Add-ins.
  4. Click Store.
  5. Enter Lexis® for Microsoft® Office in the Search box and press enter or click Search.
  6. Click Add.
Lexis® for Microsoft® Office appears on the Home ribbon.
 

 Upgrading Lexis for Microsoft Office


The steps to upgrade Lexis for Microsoft Office are the same as new installations. After the upgrade, you will be asked if you want to remove all files and folders created by previous versions of the program as well as any custom preferences. Click No if you want to retain your preferences.
