The information in this article applies to the following LexisNexis® products and services: Lexis+®, Lexis®

You can retrieve your previous searches or documents from History. History includes searches, document views, and delivery requests.

The History drop-down menu from the global navigation bar include Searches, Documents, and Shepard's®. The Searches, Documents, and Shepard's® tabs have the 5 most recently viewed searches, non-public records documents, or Shepard's Citation service reports.

Click View all history to open your full History in list format to see all searches, document views, and deliveries. Click Research Map to access your History in a graphic view. For more information, see Using the Research Map .

When you click a link to return to a search or a previously viewed document, the system runs a new search or retrieves the document again, so even though you are accessing from your History you always see the most up to date search results or document. If you re-run a search from your History that had presearch filters in the original search, the filters are applied and are visible under Filters and the presearch filter area in the search field along with your original search terms. Postsearch filters are not applied and do not display in the List view of History, but you can see postsearch filters in the Research Map.

When you click a link for a Print, Download, or Email item, you have the ability to retrieve your previously delivered items in the same format as the original delivery with the same options. You cannot change the options. How you delivered the items determines how long the delivered items can be retrieved as follows:

  • If you delivered documents to a LexisNexis printer, you can redeliver those documents from your History for 90 days
  • If you emailed documents, you can download the documents from the Email item for 90 days
  • If you delivered documents to an attached printer or download, those documents are available for redelivery for 1 day
If you need to change the options of items you previously delivered, you must re-run the search or retrieve the document again and print, download, or email with the new options. All items remain in History for 90 days. While you cannot delete items from your History, the items are automatically and permanently removed after the 90 days. Items you printed or downloaded are available for 1 day. Any research done under  Public Records appear in History but have different durations. For more information, see Public Records History .

Click Open in New Tab to view the article in a separate window, this view provides links for ease of use and article navigation. Once you are on the Support Home window you can click links within the article.

 Search Within History

You can search for specific items in your History using Search Within History.

A search in Search Within History only searches the item title in the History list and does not search the full text of any documents associated with that item, such as a document viewed or a document included in a search results list. Search Within History does not support terms and connectors searches.

Client

But when you retrieve an item from History and the original client does not match the current client you selected, the service prompts you to view the document or run the search with the current client or with the original client.

If you select the current client, the service displays the search or document view as a separate item in History assigned to the current client. The service still displays the item assigned to the original client in History.

You cannot change the client assigned to items in History.
