The Lexis+® and Lexis® services contain many original source documents (OSDs), including briefs, pleadings, and motions for all federal and most state courts, as well as documents available from the Lexis® CourtLink® service.
The following searches illustrate common methods of finding briefs, pleadings, and motions.
You may locate briefs, pleadings, and motions while viewing a case you retrieved on Lexis by looking under Related Court Materials under About This Document.
Run the following search to find sample briefs or motions containing summary judgment by using the Briefs or Motions Post Search Filter:

Run the following search to find briefs or motions that include language regarding the opposition’s motion to dismiss in the document title that are dated 12/2009:

| Note: | Some briefs and motions are also included in the Other Court Documents Category. You can include that Category in the filter selections, but that Category also includes pleadings. The TITLE segment for Other Court Documents searches the description of the document added to the docket by the court, not the actual title of the PDF. Documents which come from the Lexis CourtLink service display the case filing date on the results list as opposed to the date the court accepted and docketed the filing. This causes the date on the document to be different than the date on the docket. |
