Display Formats

The LexisNexis® research services provide the following display formats for viewing your search results:

Cite

NOTE:

Displays basic information, in a numbered list, about the documents found by your search. This information includes the case name, title or headline, author or byline, source, and date. Other information may appear, depending on which sources you search.

When you view your search results in the Cite format, click Show Hits to see each occurrence of your search terms in each document in the cite list. Each search term appears in bold type and is surrounded by approximately five words. Click Hide Hits to return to a standard Cite List.

KWIC

Displays documents in the KWIC (Key Words In Context) format. KWIC automatically shows each of your search terms surrounded by 25 words. You can select a different number of words (between 1 and 999) to view by clicking on KWIC + 25. The KWIC format helps you quickly determine if a document is relevant to your research topic.

Full

Displays the complete text of documents found by your search.

Custom

Displays the document segments you specify. To view a list of available segments click Custom. You can Clear All the segments, select the segments you wish to view, and click OK.

SuperKWIC

NOTE:

Displays documents with the portion of text that most closely matches your search description.

SuperKWIC format is only available when you use the Natural Language search option and view your search results in the KWIC format.

Digest

NOTE:

Displays a list of cases showing the LexisNexis® Headnote or best paragraph from the opinion matching the language of the headnote you selected. Digest is the default view for Retrieve All Headnotes and More Like This Headnote results.

Digest is only available when you use Retrieve All Headnotes or More Like This Headnote.
