Removing the Compatibility Pack for the 2007 Office System

 

You need to remove the Compatibility Pack for the 2007 Office system to prepare your computer for the Lexis® for Microsoft Office® installation.


Windows XP

Take the following steps to determine if you have the Compatibility Pack and how to remove it:

  1. Click Start and select Control Panel.
  2. Double-click Add or Remove Programs.
  3. Look through the list of software to find Compatibility Pack for the 2007 Office system.
    Note: If you do not see the software in the list, there is nothing that you need to do. Return to the System Preparation article and continue following the instructions on preparing your system for the Lexis for Microsoft Office installation.
  4. Click Compatibility Pack for the 2007 Office system.
  5. Click Remove on the right side of the screen.
  6. Press Windows Key + R to open the Run window.
  7. Enter winword /r in the Open field and click OK.
    Note: After you click OK, a repair process re-registers the file associations for Microsoft Word. For more information about Office file associations, see the Microsoft Office for IT Professionals Forum.
  8. Reboot the computer when the repair process completes.
  9. Re-run the Lexis for Microsoft Office Prerequisites Installer.

Windows Vista

Take the following steps to determine if you have the Compatibility Pack and how to remove it:

  1. Click Add Icon and select Control Panel.
  2. Click Uninstall a program.
    Note: If the Control Panel menu is set to Classic View, click Programs and Features.
  3. Look through the list of software to find Compatibility Pack for the 2007 Office system.
    Note: If you do not see the software in the list, there is nothing that you need to do. Return to the System Preparation article and continue following the instructions on preparing your system for the Lexis for Microsoft Office installation.
  4. Right-click Compatibility Pack for the 2007 Office system and select Uninstall.
  5. Press Windows Key + R to open the Run window.
  6. Enter winword /r in the Open field and click OK.
