The following information provides guidance on the options available on the Form Search:
Form Search Overview
Each public record source offers a predefined Form Search. The Form Search is best used to locate and identify information on specific entities and subjects such as an individual, company or an address.
The folllowing character limits apply:
35 characters | 60 characters |
First Name | Street Address |
Middle Name/Initial | |
Last Name | |
City | |
Zip Code | |
County |
The Form Search uses a proprietary algorithm. It is possible to retrieve more documents by adding additional information to the search due to the linking and matching technology. Results are returned based on relevancy. This means that records that are the closest match to your search terms display first. You cannot use Wildcards or Connectors in the Form Search. For more information on creating a list or to expand your search fields not available on the Form Search, see Terms and Connectors for Public Records.

Find Similar Sounding Last Names
Find similar sounding last names allows the system to search for spelling variations of a last name. Check this box if you are unsure of the spelling of the last name. Strict Search turns this feature off.
Find Nicknames of First Names
Find nicknames of first name allows the system to search for records in which the subject may use a nickname as opposed to their formal name. Check this box to find traditional nicknames such as Michael and Mike. Strict Search turns this feature off.
Strict Search
Strict Search prevents the system from returning sounds like last names, nicknames, name variations, or address variations. Check Strict Search so the results closely match the terms you enter. Strict Search does not make noise words searchable.
Note: Strict Search does not guarantee identical results like a Terms & Connectors search. Form Search uses a proprietary matching technology to link and deliver relevant results while the Terms & Connectors search processes a Boolean search. For more information about Terms & Connectors searching, see Terms and Connectors for Public Records
Address Radius
A selection for Address Radius is helpful when you search on an address that may cross state lines or in metro areas that go across 2 or 3 state or county lines. Address Radius allows for records to be retrieved even if you enter the wrong city, zip code or state.
If you enter a city and state and no zip code, the radius is from the center of the city.
Address Radius is not available in every source.
Noise Words
Some words that appear in a company name may be read as noise words when entered in the Company Name field in any Form Search. For additional information, see Company Name Noise Words in Public Records .
Standardized Address / Standardized Name
A Form Search only searches the standardized name/address, it does not search the original name/address. For additional information, see Standardized Name / Address vs Original Name / Address in Public Records .
Social Security Numbers in Form Search
Partial numbers are not an option due to security reasons when using the Form Search.
Use one of the following formats when you must enter a complete SSN (9 digits) in the SSN field:
- 123-45-6789
- 123 45 6789
- 123456789
