You can change article display settings, set the default interface time, language and left-hand navigation default in the Nexis Newsdesk® settings. After saving changes to Settings, refresh your Newsdesk screen to see the changes.
 


Take the following steps to change the settings in Newsdesk:

  1. Click your name in the upper right corner.
  2. Click Settings.
  3. Select the following for the Displaying Articles settings:
  • Close Saved Content on Search Result
  • Number of Search Results
    • Select the number of search results per page from the drop-down list. i.e.10, 25, 50 ,100, 200 
  • Show Article Extracts:
    • Contextual Extract - determined by the location of the first keyword in the article.
    • Start of text extract - the first 250 characters of the article or the first 10% of the article, whichever is smaller
    • No article extract
  • Highlight Search Keywords
  • Bold Search Keywords
    • This setting highlights and bolds the keywords that are found in the list of articles and article previews
    • Additionally, for LexisNexis licensed content, highlighted and bolded search terms are added to the full text article.
  • Article Time
    • Exact
    • Relative - 1 hour ago, 3 days ago, etc.
  • Time Format
  • Date Format
  • Language Translates To
    • Select the language you want Google Translate to use from the drop-down list. i.e. English, Dutch, German, Spanish, etc. 
      Note: Google Translate is only available on Newsdesk for content harvested from the internet. The translate button appears after clicking on an article link, so only one article may be translated at a time. LexisNexis Licensed content on Newsdesk does not have this feature.
  • Results Show Images
  • Show Search Assistant - displays the auto-suggest for Commands, Source Names, and Subject or Industry in the search box.
    • Use the source: operator for Source Name suggestions, which are prioritized by source rank and the most prominent sources are suggested first.
    • Use the industry: operator to view the industries provided by the Search Assistant.
  • Use Search Stemming
  • Media Value Currency
    • Select the currency format to display in the Media Value field from the drop-down list. i.e. USD, EUR, GBP, etc. 
  • Media Value
  1. Select the following the Defaults settings:
    • Show Landing page upon sign-in
    • Show Post Search Guidance
    • User Time Zone
      Note: UTC stands for Coordinated Universal Time and is the same thing as Greenwich Mean Time (GMT).
    • Replace Drag & Drop with Dropdowns
  2. Click Save.
