Error: There Are No Matters Assigned to Your Law Firm with Corporate Customer ID XXXX and Corporate Customer Matter ID XXXX (Message inv192)

Problem Description
There needs to be 1 and only 1 matter with the same Client ID and Client Matter ID, or Law Firm Matter ID. For more information on how the law firm can tell the system what matter they are billing for, or how the CounselLink service decides what matter an invoice is for, see How CounselLink Assigns a LEDES1998B or LEDES1998BI Invoice to a Matter or Law Office Matter ID on CounselLink.

Note: The law firm may also receive this error if there is a Pending MCR / Matter Change Request on the Matter. Educate the caller once approved by the Client; they will be able to upload the Ledes file.
For additional “pending” reasons (matter status) why an invoice would receive this error.  Once approved by client, the law firm can upload the ledes invoice. For further information review the following articles:
Suggested Action

Take the following steps if the law firm wants to use, or focus on, the Client ID or Client Matter ID to tell the system what matter they are billing for:

  1. Check if the CLIENT_ID field, the third field in each LEDES1998B charge line, in the LEDES file, is the same as set in the Corporate Customer ID at the bottom of the law firm profile or law office profile in the CounselLink service.
  2. Verify with the law firm that the CLIENT_MATTER_ID (last field in each LEDES1998B charge line) in the LEDES file is the same as what the Corporate Client entered as the Corporate Customer Matter ID on the matter.

Take the following steps if the Client ID field is the same as set in the Corporate Customer ID:

  1. Click on Law Firm Office.
  2. Scroll to the bottom of the page.
  3. Select the check box for the client.
  4. Click Edit at the top of the Corporate Customer Relationships section.
  5. Verify or enter the Corporate Customer ID.
  6. Click Save.
Take the following steps if the law firm wants to use, or focus on, the law firm matter ID to tell the system what matter they are billing for:
  1. Verify that each matter has a unique LAW_FIRM_MATTER_ID or Law Office Matter ID across clients.
  2. Verify that the LAW_FIRM_MATTER_ID, which is the fourth field in the LEDES1998B file, matches only 1 matter with the Law Office Matter ID in the CounselLink service.
Note: You must set the Law Office Matter ID on the matter if it does not match in step 2.
  3. Click Matters tab.
  4. Search for the matter.
Note: Click Not Set or the Law Office Matter ID if there is more than 1 matter on the list.
  5. Click Edit.
  6. Enter the Law Firm Matter ID.
Note: This number should match what the law firm ahs in the fourth field, namely, the LAW_FIRM_MATTER_ID, of their LEDES1998B file and should match the case. (upper case in ledes file; use upper case in CounselLink).
  7. Click Save.
