Problem Description
You entered an incorrect ID and/or password. You have 5 attempts to log in. After 5 unsuccessful attempts, your ID will be locked for 1 hour. You receive the following error messages if you fail to enter the correct ID and password combination:

Note: It will take 1 hour for your ID to be unlocked.

 1st and 2nd Attempt


The 1st and 2nd attempt error message informs you that you have entered an incorrect ID or password:

The ID or password you entered is incorrect. Please try again. If you have forgotten your ID or password, select "Forgot your ID or password?" to recover the information. For additional help, call Customer Support at 1-800-543-6862.

 3rd Attempt


The 3rd attempt error message informs you that you have two more attempts remaining:

The ID or password you entered is incorrect. You have 2 more attempts remaining to enter your sign-in information correctly. If you have forgotten this information, select "Forgot your ID or password?" to recover it. For additional help, call Customer Support at 1-800-543-6862.

 4th Attempt


The 4th attempt error message informs you that you have one more attempt remaining:

The ID or password you entered is incorrect. This is your last opportunity to enter your sign-in information correctly. If you have forgotten this information, select "Forgot your ID or password?" to recover it. For additional help, call Customer Support at 1-800-543-6862.

 5th Attempt


The 5th attempt error message advises you to use the Forgot your Password feature or call Customer Support:

Login Attempt Limit Exceeded
We're sorry, but you did not enter a valid ID and password within the 5-attempt limit.  If you have forgotten your ID or password, select "Forgot your ID or password?" to recover the information. For additional help, call Customer Support at 1-800-543-6862.

 ID is Locked Email


The system generates this email after 5 unsuccessful sign in attempts.  The user will need to request OTP and reset their password.

Suggested Action
Take the following steps to use the Forgot your Password feature to unlock your Lexis® ID:
  1. Click Forgot your Password.
  2. Enter your Lexis ID.
  3. Click Submit.
  4. Click Continue to have a verification code sent to you.
  5. Enter the verification code in the boxes provided and select Verify Code.
  6. Enter a new password.
  7. Enter your new password again to verify the password.
  8. Click Reset Password.
  9. Click Back to Sign In and sign in to the Lexis® service.
