 Nexis Newsdesk® offers the ability to filter a search results list to exclude duplicates based on content or source.

Deduplication in Search Results 


Take the following steps to deduplicate search results:

  1. Click on a search title or run a new search.
  2. Click on Deduplication in the Filters, located on the left of the results list. You may need to click on the Filters tab to open it.
  3. Click on the Deduplication down arrow.
  4. Choose the desired Deduplicate to see and Display settings.

Duplicate to See Settings 


The following settings are available in search results: 

Duplicate Setting Definition
Fewest results Article content must be at least 80% identical (across sources) to be considered a duplicate.
For more information on how to view the removed duplicate articles, see View Similar Articles section in Search Results Overview on Newsdesk.
Fewer results Article content must be at least 80% identical within the same source to be considered a duplicate.
All results Shows all results, including duplicates.

Display Settings 


If you select any Deduplication Setting other than All results in search results or newsletters, you can determine which article appears in your results list by selecting one of the following options:  
  • First published article
  • Last published article
  • LexisNexis licensed article

Deduplication in Newsletters 


There is a Duplicates setting which allows for deduplication in Newsletters. 
  • The Newsletter duplication setting overrides any duplication setting applied to the feed. 
  • The Newsletter duplication setting applies to each feed, it does not look for duplicates across multiple feeds in a Newsletter.
 
Take the following steps to set duplication settings for a newsletter:
  1. Click Share tab.
  2. Click Newsletters subtab.
  3. Click New Newsletter, or the name of an existing newsletter to edit it.
  4. Click More Options at the bottom of the screen to view this setting and select one of the following:
    • All results
    • Fewer results
    • Fewest results
  5. If you select any duplication setting other than All results, select one of the following show options:
    • First published article
    • Last published article
    • LexisNexis licensed article
  6. Click Save.
