Searching by Patent Number in the Patent Number Field

You can search for patent related cases using the Patent Number field  in the following courts or agencies:
  • U.S. District Courts (Civil)
  • U.S. Patent Trial & Appeals Board
  • U.S. International Trade Commission
  • U.S. Supreme Court
  • U.S. Circuit Courts

Dockets in the U.S. District Courts (Civil) lists the patents at the bottom of the dockets with links to TotalPatent One®. Clicking these links takes you to TotalPatent One if you have a subscription to TotalPatent One. The U.S. Patent Trial & Appeals Board and the U.S. International Trade Commission reference patent numbers in the text of the dockets and do not link to TotalPatent One. The dockets in the U.S. Supreme Court and the U.S. Circuit Courts generally do not include references to patent numbers on the dockets. Instead, they reference the patent numbers in the metadata which can be seen in the results lists.

Take the following steps to search for dockets using the Patent Number field:
  1. Select your court from the within court drop-down.
  2. Enter the patent number in the Patent Number field.
Note:  You can enter the patent number with or without commas.
  3. Click Search.

Note: If you select other courts that do not support Patent Number search field, the system displays the following message: You won’t receive results from these courts. Click these courts to see a list of the courts that do not support the field.
