In the .ZIP file for multiple documents ordered in a single request, Lexis CourtLink orders the documents by proceeding number, but the .ZIP file program has a function that lists the documents in alphabetical order. That is a feature with the zip file program the user has and is not controlled by CourtLink.

 Sealed or Restricted Documents

Sometimes documents appear to be available as Online documents, but they may be sealed or restricted to the parties or attorneys listed in the case. Anyone else who attempts to view these documents receives the following message: You do not have permission to view the document.

The following list contains reasons why the Lexis CourtLink service may not have permissions to this document:

  • The document is sealed.
  • The court has restricted access to only the attorneys involved in the case. To  have access to the document the attorney must log into PACER with their PACER ID, they cannot access the restricted documents via Lexis CourtLink.  Social security, immigration, or criminal cases are common examples of these restrictions, but it may include other case types.

 Troubleshooting Download Issues

Browser

If a particular browser on a workstation is experiencing issues with LexisNexis® websites, but other browsers and websites appear to be work fine, there is likely a browser issue. For information on how to resolve a browser related issue, see Troubleshooting Browser Issues

Pop-up Blockers

A pop-up blocker is any program that prohibits a pop-up window from displaying. If a pop-up blocker is enabled, it may block option screens on Lexis CourtLink that are needed for emailing documents. For more information, see Disable Blockers in Most Common Internet Browsers .

Audio Files

Because the courts moved to video conferences during the 2020 pandemic, courts started attaching audio files to the docket proceedings. Sometimes the proceeding text lists the size or indicates that there is an attached audio file. This greatly increases the size of those documents and CourtLink is unable to retrieve these documents.

Take the following steps to play an attached audio file downloaded from Lexis® CourtLink®:
  1. Download a document with an attached audio file from Lexis CourtLink.
  2. Open the document in your PDF reader.
  3. Click the Attachments tab or paper clip icon in your PDF reader to view the audio file.
  4. Double-click the audio file to open it in your audio player.
