Direct Access courts are searched separately from Advanced Database courts on the Lexis® CourtLink® service. Direct Access courts connect directly with a court case system and searching operates with the court's system/search logic. (i.e., Colorado courts have automatic stemming on names that cannot be turned off.)

The following courts are Direct Access courts on the Lexis CourtLink service:

Colorado Colorado District and County Courts
Indiana All state courts
Missouri All state courts
Washington District and Municipal Courts Statewide

Take the following steps to search a Direct Access court:
  1. Click the within drop-down and select a Direct Access court.
  2. Enter search criteria in the search fields.
Note: Depending on the court selected, some search fields have a red asterisk that requires you input information or make a selection. These courts do not include a keywords search capabilities.
  3. Click Search.
Note: A second tab opens and the Lexis CourtLink service dials out to the court to retrieve the information. A picture of a document being scanned appears on the screen while the information is retrieved.
  4. Select a case from the results list.
Note: A third tab opens and the Lexis CourtLink service dials out to the court again to retrieve the information. A picture of a document being scanned appears on the screen while the information is retrieved.
