Claims and Creditors

Claims and creditors do not automatically appear when the docket is added online. You must update the Claims and Creditors sections to retrieve that information.
Note: The Claims and Creditors sections update separately and are not updated when you use the Update Now feature.

Claims

Take the following steps to retrieve or update the Claims when looking at a bankruptcy docket:

  1. Click Claims at the top of the document to scroll down to the Claims section of the docket.
  2. Click Update next to Claims.

This updates the Claims section. The Creditors section and other items in the docket are not updated.

Creditors

Take the following steps to retrieve or update the Creditors when looking at a bankruptcy docket:

  1. Click Creditors at the top of the document to scroll down to the Creditors section of the docket.
  2. Click Update next to Creditors.

Proof of Claim Statements

The Claims list includes Proof of Claim statements. Proof of Claim statements notify the bankruptcy court, debtor, trustees, and other interested parties that the creditor asserted his right to receive distribution from the bankruptcy estate.

Proof of Claim statements are only listed in the Claims section of the document. They are not listed with the rest of the docket entries. If the Proof of Claim document is available online, you see a Free or Online link for the document under the History column for the claim.

Take the following steps to retrieve a Proof of Claim statement from a bankruptcy docket:
Note: If you have not already done so, update the Claims section following the instructions above if you do not see a Proof of Claim that has been filed in the case.

  1. Click Claims at the top of the document to scroll down to the Claims section of the docket
  2. Click Free or Online under the History column for the claim to display the Confirm Selection window.
Note: If there is no link, the document is not available online.
  3. Click Get Documents to display the Court Document Retrieval window.
  4. Click View to view the Proof of Claim statement in a new tab, or click the document link to download the Proof of Claim statement.
  5. Click Close.
