Get Started

If you already have a login for Lexis, a new login for CaseMap is not needed. Log into Lexis and use the product switcher, located in the top left corner of all LexisNexis products, to select CaseMap.

If you do not have an existing Lexis account, a prompt appears for you to set up a new Lexis account.

  • Confirm with other team members that the case has not already been created by someone else in CaseMap.

  • Carefully consider a unique name for the case that is memorable and distinguishes it from other cases for the same client. This will aid in you and the rest of your team finding this exact case later.

Navigating CaseMap

Navigating through software can be exciting. CaseMap is known as the ideal resource for case organization and litigation strategy. The features now available in one tool include:

  • Creating and adding timelines
  • Display transcript data
  • Manage depositions, exhibits, and videos

Anyone with admin access to CaseMap ® Cloud can create and/or edit a case. Using a single sign on, any user-regardless of case-can review or change information in a case. This option allows users transfer between cases quickly. The image below displays the full navigation for CaseMap ® Cloud.

There are two menu options: the traditional navigation and the contextual menu which offers more details about a selected element of your case.

The left navigation allows you to quickly find transcripts, add facts and complete research.

All Cases displays all cases assigned to the user.

The Dashboard offers an overview of the case and elements associated with it.

Use TimeMap to create and customize case timelines.

Use TextMap to add transcripts, exhibits, and transcript videos to your cases.Use the TextMap Viewer to extract facts, find designations, and view video in sync with your transcript.

Click Facts to add, search, or filter for your cases.

Add issues and descriptions of those Issues according to the law.

People/Orgs allows the user to add, search or filter people and organizations associated, in any way, with the case.

Click Documents to add/remove any document related to a case. Use the Document Viewer to extract facts, people, or organizations, or run entity recognition.

Use Research to locate past cases.

Each Contextual Menu is unique to the element. This menu allows you to add and edit comments, as well as view associated facts, issues, people/organizations, documents, and research.

Click Uploads to see the status of files added to the case.

You are unable to change the height and/or width of this menu.

 

 

 

The table below shows the contextual menu, element by element.

Select an element in the card view to add a comment necessary to that element. When finished adding the comment, click Submit. Comments are sorted by most recent comment. If you need to retype, click Clear and begin again.

Click Facts to see any facts associated with the selected table item. This option is available in the Issues, People/Orgs, Documents, and TextMap tables.

Click Issues to see any issues associated with the selected element.This option is available in the Facts and Research tables.

 

Click People/Orgs to see any people or organizations associated with the selected table item. This option is available in the Facts table.

Click Documents to see any documents associated with the selected table item. This option is available in the Facts table.

Click Research to see any research associated with the selected table item. This option is available in the Issues table.

This option is available from anywhere and is the only item on the right-hand sidebar that is NOT contextual to the item selected. It shows all of the user €™s uploads.

 

Who has access?

You, as the authorized user, have access to all cases and files available at this firm. To receive access, contact your IT administrator.

Note: Anyone at the firm who has access to CaseMap can access any case for which he/she is a member.

It's time to create your first case!
