How often is the repository updated?

As documents are saved to the Document Management System, the changes reflect in Lexis® Search Advantage at scheduled intervals, based on customer preference. Lexis Search Advantage indexes only the most recent version of a document for searching.

What is the maximum amount of document links that can be emailed from Lexis Search Advantage?

100.

What security measures are in place?

Lexis Search Advantage respects the security of your firm's Document Management System. Users only see documents they have permissions to see. When sending selected documents, the selected documents are sent in the body of the email as links and if the recipient does not have permissions to view the document, the link does not work. If a user chooses the option to deliver selected documents as an email attachment, security is not enforced with the email recipients. The recipient is able to download and access the documents attached to the email. For this reason, about 50% of customers choose to hide that option.

What is Transactions Search powered by Intelligize® and how does it relate to Lexis Search Advantage | Transactional?

Intelligize is a LexisNexis® solution. Its purpose is to be used as a SEC disclosure research tool. Lexis Search Advantage transactional applies Intelligize algorithms to your firm's work product so you can surface similar types of agreements within your firm's collection. The Lexis Search Advantage landing page is modeled after the Agreements & Other Exhibits module within Intelligize.

How is this different than searching in my Document Management System?

Document Management System (DMS) searching is based on the DMS profiles and simple Boolean searching. During the Lexis Search Advantage implementation stage, documents from your firm's DMS are selected to be fed into Lexis Search Advantage. Utilizing Intelligize algorithms, documents are classified, deal points and other important criteria are extracted and are made searchable. Advanced Lexis algorithms are used to identify 3 entity types that can now be used to filter results. The results list can be customized to display metadata that help the end user determine whether a document is relevant without opening it, saving you time. You also can easily copy a clause to re-use in your own document or share with a colleague with a single click of the mouse.

Can I download a copy of a document I am viewing?

Yes, downloading a document in its native format is a feature available to Lexis Search Advantage | Transactional clients.

Can I go back to searches I have done in the past?

Yes, Lexis Search Advantage not only saves your last 50 searches to be easily accessed and re-executed or shared via email, but also keeps a running link of your search as it changes throughout your session. You can easily copy it to the clipboard to send or save.

Do I need to bill my search to a client when I am searching the firm's documents in Lexis Search Advantage?

No, since Lexis Search Advantage is searching for your firm's own work product, you do not have to associate your research with a Client-Matter for billback purposes. It is a nonbillable resource.

What happens if we change our Document Management System while a Lexis Search Advantage customer?

Switching DMS providers would require the firm to go through a similar process to when the firm first implemented Lexis Search Advantage.

Do Lexis Search Advantage upgrades happen automatically?

Lexis Search Advantage upgrades are not automatic. Since the Lexis Search Advantage software resides on your server, upgrades need to be scheduled and planned accordingly with your Engagement Manager.
