The Document Descriptions ONLY checkbox allows you to search only in the Proceeding Text of dockets, which are the descriptions of the docket entries, for any terms you entered in the search box for all of the dockets on Lexis® CourtLink® except for those from Direct Access courts. For more information on how to search in those courts, see Searching Direct Access Courts on Lexis CourtLink. You can use Terms & Connectors or Natural Language in the search box. You can also use quotation marks to keep terms together as a phrase. In addition, you can use the Litigant(s) field, the Attorney field, the Judge field, and the Date Filed drop-down in conjunction with the search box.

Take the following steps to search by Document Descriptions ONLY:
  1. Select for Dockets.
  2. Select the court or courts you want to search.
  3. Select Document Descriptions ONLY.
  4. Enter your search terms in the search box.
  5. (Optional) Enter a litigant's name in the Litigant(s) field.
  6. (Optional) Enter an attorney's name in the Attorney field.
  7. (Optional) Enter a judge's name in the Judge field.
