Overview

Your search results display in a list with basic information about the documents the service found, including extracts of the articles or references to where the service found your search terms in the articles. A Preview button allows you to quickly view the article abstract and metadata. Newsdesk also provides additional filters to help you further narrow your results.

  • The results page displays the total number of results, but you can only view a maximum of 5000 results.
  • The Show feature allows you to determine the number of results to display on a page. You can display 10, 25, 50, 100, or 200 results on one page. Scroll down to the bottom of a results list to change the number of results. You can also set the number of results in Settings.
  • An interactive Coverage Over Time chart can be toggled on and off to display at the top of the search results so you can easily identify spikes and what caused them.
  • The results page supports touch screen devices.
  • The search results default to the Publish Date. You can change this by using the Sort by feature. For more information, see Sorting by Ordered Type.

  • Date added - view articles from most recent to oldest based on the time the articles were added to Newsdesk.
  • Date published - View articles from most recent to oldest based on the time the articles were published. The publish date is the date on the article.
Note: You can change both the Date added and Date published search results display between the exact and relative time/date For more information on how to change the Article Time, see Settings on Newsdesk .
  • Relevance - the most relevant articles are at the top of the results. Relevance only works well if your search includes search terms.
  • Article Sentiment - organizes the results based on the sentiment score in either ascending or descending order.
  • Media Value - organizes the results based on the Media Value of the article in either ascending or descending order.
  • Reach - organizes the results based on the Reach score in either ascending or descending order. The Reach calculation is dependent on the type of source.
    • The Reach number for Online News and other online sources is the number of unique visitors going to a particular website.
    • The Reach number for Print is the circulation of the publication.
    • The Reach number for TV/Radio is the audience number.

The ordered type persists only for saved searches. For more information about a saved search, see Saved Search Feeds .
