How Do I Register for the LexisNexis Services?

JD Student & LLM Students at ABA Accredited Schools

  1. Obtain your Registration Code from your LexisNexis Account Representative, Lexis Associate, law school librarian, or other faculty member.
  2. Launch www.lexisnexis.com/lawschool/register and enter your Registration Code, Name, and Email.

You will receive a Welcome Email containing your Lexis Advance and Lexis.com information to continue the registration process.


Faculty, Staff and Students at non-ABA Accredited Schools

  1. Obtain your seven digit Activation Code from your LexisNexis Account Representative, Lexis Associate, law school librarian, or other faculty memeber.
  2. Launch www.lexisnexis.com/lawschool.
  3. Click Register for Home Page and follow the on screen instructions.

You will automatically receive access to Lexis Advance after you register for Lexis.com.

Will I Need to Keep My Activation Code?

After you create your Custom ID and Password, you do not need your code to sign on to the LexisNexis Services.

Are There Guidelines for Selecting My Custom ID?

Create your Custom ID according to the following guidelines:

  • The Custom ID must contain 8 to 25 characters (alpha characters and/or numeric characters 0 through 9)
  • The Custom ID cannot be your 7 character activation code
  • The Custom ID can contain special characters: @ _ (underscore) . (period) - (hyphen)
  • The Custom ID cannot be already in use
  • The Custom ID cannot contain spaces and international characters
  • The Custom ID cannot contain only numbers
  • The Custom ID cannot contain offensive words
  • The Custom ID cannot contain your first and last name (e.g. JOHNSMITH)
  • The Custom ID cannot contain LexisNexis names (e.g. lexis.com, nexis.com, etc.)

Are There Guidelines for Selecting My Password?

Create your Password according to the following guidelines:

  • The Password must contain 6-50 characters
  • The Password must contain at least one letter and one number
  • The Password cannot contain special characters (except @._-)
  • The Password cannot contain spaces
  • The Password cannot contain your First or Last name
  • The Password cannot contain your LexisNexis ID
  • The Password cannot be the same as any of your previous three passwords
